Bruno Schulz (July 12, 1892 – November 19, 1942) was a Polish writer, graphic artist and literary critic, who is widely regarded as one of the great Polish-language prose stylists of the 20th century. Schulz was born, and spent his entire life, in Drohobycz (first Austro-Hungarian Empire, later Poland, Soviet Union, and Ukraine), in the province of Galicia, to assimilated Jewish parents. He was killed by a German Nazi officer.
