Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The water-energy nexus is the relationship between how much water is evaporated to generate and transmit energy, and how much energy it takes to collect, clean, move, store, and dispose of water.Different types of electricity generation require differing amounts of water. Except for photovoltaic solar and wind power, which require no water to produce energy. However there is a substantial water requirement for all forms of electricity generation in making the raw materials and constructing and maintaining the plant. Thus although wind-power has a very low water requirement operationally, if it is mounted on a concrete or steel tower, many tonnes of water will have been required in its construction. In the USA about 2 gallons of water evaporates to create one kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy.
